Shortly after upgrading to Win 10, I installed Macrium Reflect Free. I had it set to do a system image weekly, and a differential every day. It worked for a week. I got a full image of 87GB, 6 differentials ranging from 1-5 GB, another full of 87 GB, then when I should see a differential, I get a file of 41GB.
Same thing for the following two days. Of course, the free version isn't eligible for support. I double checked my backup parameters and all is in order. Any ideas, besides paying for the full version?

Have you installed any programs or updates in between or downloaded some extra large file ?

No, that's what's confusing. Allowing for mild compression, the 41GB backup file represents approx. 60GB of data. I sure don't know where that came from. Even a Windows update wouldn't be that large. Subsequent "differential" backups are all in the 41GB range. I switched from EaseUS (which worked perfectly for 6 months under Win7 Pro) to Macrium because when I upgraded to Win10, I couldn't find any information that EaseUS supported Win10. Maybe I need to switch back, as now they say specifically that even the free version is W10 compatible. But I'm curious why Macrium worked for one week, then didn't.

Yes, I did look at AOMEI. One feature it doesn't have is automatic deletion of old backup files based on my parameters. Other than that, I'm sure it would do a fine job. And the price is right. EaseUS will also clone HDD to SSD.

Seagate offers a free imaging program called DiskWizard (made by Acronis) that is available for owners of Seagate drives.

I also have Macrium free installed on my laptop, but the software can be a pain to deal with at times.

I had been using Acronis 2011 for quite some time, but couldn't get it to do daily incrementals and weekly full images. That's when I went to EaseUS. Since it worked for me on Win7, I started using it again. It's only been a few days, but all seems well. As far as DiskWizard, I'm reluctant to use any software based on Acronis True Image. I'm marking this thread "resolved. "
