The past few days I have noticed a small problem while browsing with NS. When I am doing something that requires going back to a page or link I have just visited I click the link and get a " The Page Contains No Data " message. I click OK and then click the link again and retrieve the page. This problem just started a few days ago and was wondering if anyone has encountered it. If so, any suggestions :)

    Thanks
    erg

    Hi erg,

Have you deleted your history.dat file, and Cache folder recently? It could be that basic. The files are located in:
    ~\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

Go to Edit | Preferences | Navigator | History
Ensure that the setting is more than 0.

Go to to Edit | Preferences | Advanced | Cache
Check to see if your cache is set to
update every time you view the page. Clear your memory and disk caches,
then try setting it to "When the page is out of date" instead (or vice
    versa).

Is the problem on random pages, or does it seem to occur on specific pages?

Post back and let us know if any of the above helped.

Thanks Ramona. I went to the ~\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt
and that littel bugger has 41 mb in it. Could that be the problem :). Also do I delete the folder itself or just the contents useing SELELT ALL/DELETE or will the folder rebuild if I just click it and DELETE

    Hi erg,

You can delete the Cache folder, and you are correct, Netscape will rebuild it on the next startup. Wow, that's a pretty fair sized Cache, and may very well solve your problems.

    Keep up posted,

    Ramona,

You forget that the default cache setting is somewhere in the neighborhood of 50mb, so 41mb isn't out of line at all.

    tranquilo,

Granted, but I can't imagine anyone letting their Cache accumulate to that size! My Cache folder runs about 8-10 MB, when I dump it every day.

Plus, IMHO, that 50 MB is a ridiculous size. Surely that was a typo! ;)

Opps. A little more help please. Yesterday ( or the day before ) I deleted the cache folder and NS worked fine. Since then I had to install a backup because I kinda messed my puter up. well this evening I deleted that folder again and I could not open any page. I restored it from the recycle bin and got NS to working again.
I dont remember the path I took to the folder the first time but I am sure it was not \Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt
The only place I have anything like that is C:\windows\Application data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\xxxxxxx.slt.
    Did I miss something?

    Hi erg,

Nope, you're right on target with the path:

    C:\windows\Application data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\xxxxxxx.slt

The Cache folder is located in the salted folder (xxxxxxxx.slt). If you deleted it, you will have to restart NS for it to be rebuilt.

    Hi erg,

What, Senior moments? Mine occur rather frequently too...

    Glad you're O.K.
