Apparently this is unusual but I have a non-copyright video DVD I want to backup to my NAS. This shouldn't be rocket science but apparently it is. I tried using WinISO but when it gets done even WinISO cannot read the resulting ISO. When I search for alternatives they all are trying to hack copyrighted material so it does not really apply. I guess no one ever wants to copy DVDs that are legally copyable. Anyway can someone suggest a reliable way to create ISO images from unprotected DVDs? TIA.

I think I tried to get that once but my AV scanner said it was infected and wouldn't download it. I'll try that again tonight and let you know. Thanks.

Don't forget to copy/paste the instructions. The Burnaware link works for me without problem. Neil.

I finally found a clean copy and it seems to work. However, I am still having problems but I think it is a topic for a new thread. Thanks.

Uncopyrighted media you can simply copy straight to hard drive or if you have 2 optical drives in computer you can do it on the fly from loaded disc to empty disc. Want to make an .iso of the dvd you have...try ImageBurn from here http://www.imgburn.com/

I have a neat add on called "Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder Powertoy ", which adds "create iso" to the right click menu of the drive icon in my computer. It uses the IMAPI drivers already in windows, and it's very handy.

Yes, I have the program installed, but your link is inaccessible for some reason. A Google search gave dead links too.

Which brings up a point...I have been having issues like this on various sites for days. Yahoo (for example) is extremely slow to load, and sometimes both Firefox and Internet Explorer time out.
