Resolved lost programs

i up dated to Win 10 from 7. all seems to have gone smoothly, except for needing a different driver for my internet connection, (Win 10 kept shutting mine off).
now there are several programs that Win 10 has either taken over or just don't run right.
my original soft ware for my webcam is now controlled by the OS. several of the functions Microsoft ran for the camera are gone.
My Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 no longer sees the headset mic, will only see the mic as part of the webcam.....
i think it is interesting also that the programs are called "Apps" now, and there are some that i know are there, but do not show up on the "Apps" bar/start bar.
is it me or are they trying to keep us in a narrow lane of operation?

 

Have you checked > Settings > System > Apps and Features > type in your software name? Neil.

 

still doesn't find my mic, tells me that something is wrong with my windows audio program....
one of the other programs that has be co-opted by windows was the microsoft webcam, all the adjustments and "minor" settings, have been wiped or hidden by the win10 cam "app ".
@retiredlearner: these settings are similar to my experience with the I-cult hardware, it either works or it doesn't and there is little you can do to fix it.... one of the reasons i am not a fan of a lot the empire does, because rather than fix something they releast new software... and force one into buying more stuff when the old stuff doesn't work anymore because of the "up grade "

i don;t know, i just find each successive version of windows presses one to buy new software and newer hard ware with seemingly less functionality for the users who are not "elite" but above the basic point and click level...
