Hi, a friend of mine purchased a new comp with Windows 8.1. 2 hard drives 250GB SSD and 2 TB WD, we installed his old hard drive also SATA as a slave drive to transfer documents, also Music, and pics, all went well, but he also had a Budget created some years back on XL, Office 2003 we searched but could not find any XL Documents, unfortunately he could not remember a exact name of the Document except "Budget something ".
He has no MS Office on his new comp, but we installed Open Office Org. that did open all his other old MS Office Word Documents.
Can anyone give me any advice regarding recovering old XL Documents from a slave drive.

Hi Steve, all I know is that his Brother who was teaching XL some years back had set up the budget for him and he says that he was using it every now and again since about 2008 on his old XP comp.

OK now problem half solved, I have received an old hard drive from him today that he claims was also in his old computer.
It is an old PATA drive and when I connected it, I found his old Budget on it and Open Office did open it for me.
What would be my best option to copy the document and send it to him so that he can use it again.
Would a USB stick do the job??? or would a re-writable DVD be better.

How large is it? Email might do the trick... But I'd use a USB drive if I were going to his house.

Thanks Steve, So USB will do the trick then, I won't be going to his house, I was at his place for a holiday in Queensland north east coast of Australia 1700km from Melbourne to get away from the cold weather, so I will have to post it to him.
