I have several documents saved that were typed using Abiword 2.8. How do I save them as Windows 2000 documents? If I scan them into Win. 2000 they are still Abiword docs. Anyone had this before? Thanks

2.1 How do I work with Microsoft Word documents?

At present, AbiWord can open basic Microsoft Word documents well. However, if the document has complicated tables, embedded spreadsheets, and so forth, then it might not work as intended. Developing good MS Word filters is a very difficult process, so please bear with us as we work on getting Word documents to open correctly. AbiWord cannot currently save in the MS Word binary ".doc" format. However, you can save your file as a ".rtf" file, which is readable by all versions of Microsoft Word. Additionally, saving as ".doc" from within AbiWord will save a Rich Text Format (RTF) formatted file in the ".doc" wrapper readable by Microsoft Word.

Have you tried Updating to V3.0.1? The Release notes give quite a list of 'bug' patches. Neil.

Neil; I went the abiword site if I am not mistaken, It said downloading abword 3 would remove all abword documents from drive C. Neil this what I am trying to do: Some one else used abiword to write new by-laws for our Lodge. I carried them to our hometown print shop to have them put into booklet form. The print shop said their equipment was not compatible with abiword and he would have to have them in Microsoft Word form. There is 7 full pages if I have to retype to Microsoft Word. I am just looking for an easier way. Thanks, Johnny

Tony T I saved it as an rtf file, printed it, and the print shop said he could use that. Thanks very much . I will mark this thread as resolved
