    Hi all!

I have a picture (jpeg) that I want to use for a poster. But when I upload the image to an online poster making business page, it states that the image has a low resolution and therefore may appear grainy or pixelated when printed.

I don't have any photo editing software (but do have "Paint ".) Would using that program allow me to change the DPI?

I really don't know if I want to buy a program or even download a free one for fear that I wouldn't even know how to use it even if I did!

If I could find someone that I know that has a photo editing program, if I sent them the picture (via email) to resize, would they be able to send it back to me with the new size?

Thanks for any insight you may offer!

Paint cannot be used AFAIK to increase the resolution of an image; resize, yes, but the number of pixels/inch will be reduced and quality lost.

Software such as Photoshop is capable of upsizing images by resampling and creating new pixels based on adjacent pixels although inevitably there will be some loss of quality.

I was afraid that my "Paint" program wouldn't be able to do that, but because I know so little about doing this type of thing, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask!

Pictures have always been this way. If you want a decent quality "LARGE" picture, the original must be in great shape.
