I'm using a pre-owned PC and want to free up as much file space as can be safely done.
I need to know if there are temp files that shouldn't deleted. If there are such files, how can I identify them so the deletions will not damage the OS.

Dell dimension 2400, Windows (don't laugh at me) 2000 Pro.

I have searched but not found the answer and will appreciate some help.

    Thanks, Ed B

All of them. They are TEMP and aren't needed.

If you are looking for Hard Drive space, you can also go to Programs/Accessories/Disc Cleanup and put a check in ALL the boxes. Then when it is finished, go to the same place and do a Disc Defrag.

TFC would clean most of the temp files from ALL the user profiles.

    Hi Ed B,

I think it would be good to run checkdisk (chkdsk) first. Since you have pre-owned, something like 15 years old? (since it has Win 2000) computer, it would be good to check the filesystem, and the condition of the harddrive. If you start deleting and moving (defrag) stuff, what if there are bad sectors on the hard drive, and some data gets moved there?
