I've had to move my modem and router to another room. I work from home and my company requires my work computer be directly plugged into the modem. At any rate, ever since I've moved the router, connectivity has been greatly reduced. On my computer for instance, I used to get a download speed of around 2mb/sec, now I'm lucky if it's hits 500kb. I have a smart blu-ray player (LG) and when watching Netflix, the signal keeps dropping or it cuts off altogether with a message about not being connected to the internet. I have Optimum Wifi and the router has a number DIR-868L. Would a range extender help, and if so, which one?

My answer would be yes to a booster.
Your choice of brand. Mine is Netgear and placement depends on your AC power outlet in relation to signal strength. Neil.
