taskmanager probs

    when i start taskmanager or regedit they close instantly, anyone know why it would do that?

    And do you see the same behavior if you do
    start~run~taskmgr
    start~run~regedt32 or start~run~regedit

    Also, and especially if this is new behavior, good idea to go to one of the online AV scan sites and run a scan from there. Housecall is a good one as is Panda.

    There are several viri around now that will cause this and they also will disable your onboard AV software or make it unreliable.

    Newt makes a good point. I experienced the same problem that you're now having last week. In trying to resolve it I discovered that my system was infected with the Yaha virus. Have a look at the following threads for further discussions on this virus.
