Preventing Spam in Netscape 4

I am running Win 98 with Netscape 4.79. I do not
use outlook express, just the mail program that
came with prodigy years ago. When I get to my
in box I just click on get messages and they all
come. I am getting killed with spam. Maybe
30 to 60 messages a day. I have weatherbug and
think they have me signed up for everything
possible.

Is it possible in netscape 4.79 to set a filter
to stop most of the spam?, or is there any
software available that works to stop spam?

I tried to install netscape 7.0 and after the
install it will not open. After reading some
of the comments on this BB I think I will stick
with netscape 4.79 and delete 7.0.

Any ideas on stopping spam are welcome.

1. You can set rules in your email client to send mail from particular addresses straight to the trashcan

2. You (in many email clients) write a rule to accept mail only from those in your address book.

3. You can change your email address.

4. You can open a account at www.fastmail.fm or some other email provider that fiters spam for you; and (provided your present ISP provides the service) you can redirect all mail to the new filtered account. To use a free account (or one costing 15 dollars one off) you will need open an IMAP account. Netscape 6 or 7 handles IMAP quite well.

Oh, and if your present mail accont does not offer redirection you can with a Fastmai 15 dollar account set it up to collect for you.
