Resolved Turn off or uninstall windows defender

    I have the free Avast on my Netbook (Windows 7 home edition). Should I be turning Windows Defender off? If so should it be uninstalled (if you can even do that with it) or disabled? If it should be disabled, how would I go about doing that? I only see an option to uncheck real time protection.

    I just found it under options/administrator within Windows Defender GUI.

    I think it is safer to turn it off if you are running Avast!

    There is no need to uninstall it, and if you later want to get it back you would have to reinstall the operating system.
