I have an Onkey karoke portable player that is suppose to connect to the Internet where songs can be purchase from IVL Tech and downloaded to player. It came with software that is the Karoke Manager. It is plugged into computer with a USB cable to the player. Everytime that I click on Karoke Manager, it states that PLAYER NOT CONNECTED. I have uninstalled the software in SAFE MODE; reinstalled it without the USB cable connected to computer; rebooted computer; then plugged in USB cable to computer and player, turned player on and it still states PLAYER NOT CONNECTED whenever I click onto Karoke Manager.

I have gone to Microsoft site and downloaded the latest updates for Win98 SE and got the latest USB drivers for my system. Can anyone help me get this software to work?

    Ok June

    I will try.

Go to device manager in full mode with the usb device pluged in and on.

Do you see the karoke device in any catagory?

Do you have any yellow exclamation points?

Do you have an Unknown device catagory?

In USB do you have any mention of the device?

At any time have you saw windows say new hardware found USB device, or something about USB while booting up?

    Answer the above questions.

If you do have devices in error remove them.

If you have unknown devices remove them.

Also remove the all entries under Universal Serial Bus Hub and all.

Reboot. It should say new hardware found and proceed to install the HW. Recheck device manager are there any errors now?

    Check for problem.

    Report back. Tomorrow ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Hi June:

If you have motherboard integrated USB are your USB ports enabled in the BIOS?

    NOTE

    June and Dig

Since this is USB it will not show up in "Ports Com & LPT" unless it was a USB lpt cable.

It should show in USB or in Multi function or even its own entry!

It does not show up anywhere on Device Manager. It does not even show up when I plugged cable into computer and player, looking for new hardware?

I plugged in usb cable to player and checked for the following:

There are no yellow exclamation points.

There are no unknow device catagory.

Ins USB it is not listed.

    Ok June

If nothing shows up there, and it does not detect when you hook it up, it is not going to work until it does.

Did you take John's advice and go to CMOS/BIOS setup and check to se if USB is enabled.

If it is, or is not, go to safe mode
then device manager and remove all USB

Reboot if it does not reinstall USB then we are back to square one.

    Do this report back.
