When I identify an email is a phishing scam and select that from the drop down menu the email then goes into the Deleted folder, Does it also become blocked?

That will only block it on your end... If you go online to your email provider you should be able to report it..And they in theory will block it from making it's way down to your pc.

Thanks Steve. Are you saying that if I report it as a phishing scam then that address is blocked from getting on to my computer by my email provider, Microsoft/Outlook.com, and I don't need to add the address to my blocked list. At the moment when I identify it as a phishing scam it is moved from my junk folder to my deleted folder but is not added to the blocked senders list. At the moment I am having to do that manually with copy and paste. A bit of a nausea.

You will never stop them. They change address like a woman changes her mind. :D
Just don't open them. Delete them. You will never stop them all. I used to get them all the time and several a day. I hardly get any at all now.

Thanks Pete C. Yes I knew this, it is how addresses get into the blocked senders list. If I mark something as a phishing scam then the message is moved to the deleted folder but DOES NOT go into the blocked senders list. If instead of marking it as a phishing scam I block it then it does go into the blocking list and disappears from my computer. Does it get passed on to whoever as a phishing scam?

I am not familiar with Outlook.com as I use Outlook, but ....
No, there is no feedback from your computer as Steve posted #2

So how on earth do I block a sender, which is my primary objective, and at the same time inform whoever that I believe that it is a phishing scam. Could I suggest that someone who does use Outlook.com answers this.

As has already been posted unless your ISP is able/prepared to block there is not much you can do about it bar setting up Outlook.com as I posted earlier.

Consider this - there is no way that you can prevent anyone from sending a letter to your home address.

This is not true. If I have a message from someone that I believe is a phishing scam and I don't want to have any more from them I have a button on the ribbon which says block. If I click on this then the address is automatically put into my block senders list and is deleted but doesn't go into my deleted mail folder. i.e. I can't access it again and thus I have no opportunity to tell my ISP or anyone else that it is a phishing scam and thus help them to build up a history of this address.

If however instead of blocking it I mark it as a phishing scam then I assume it goes to my ISP and into my deleted folder. It does not go into my blocked senders list. To get it there I have to copy the senders email address, work my way through several menus and then paste it into my blocked senders list. It Hotmail, before we got the "improved" Outlook.com all of this was done automatically with one click.

In future I will block the message so that I don't get it again and to blazes with helping ISPs dealing with it at their level.
