I'm the only user on my new Win7x64 Pro computer and of course I'm signed on as the Administrator. In the Control Panel, the only user is me/ "Administrator" and the Guest user is turned off.

For some reason I can't copy/paste some files and can't change some icon shortcuts that I made without getting a message that "You will need to provide Administrator permission to change these settings ". wording).

My User Account Control Settings are set to Never Notify.

    How do I fix this?

    antik,

Thanks. I'm afraid that link is a little complicated for my feeble mind but at least it pin-pointed the problem for me.

I found a simpler, more recent "solution" below but unfortunately the change it suggested is already disabled in my comp.

I'm going to play around with it a little more and see what I find.

    Rob
