Many thanks to BBS for the kind thoughts. Unfortunately it was a busy day as it was one of the many times my birthdate coincides with Mother's Day.
The first time I remember this occurring, my age was in single digits and I wondered why my mother and grandmother were getting gifts too.
I got a unique gift this year - my daughter/partner and grandsons gave me a dollar for each year - and I wonder if this sets a precedent? The reason behind it was that I had everything I wanted. How did they know that? Neil.

Happy Birthday, Neil! That's a neat gift from your loved ones.

I was married on my birthday, which is also Flag Day, and there are times when my birthday and Father's Day are side by side.

    That's a most unusual situation.

Thanks James. My son was born on December 31st - missed out on New Year baby title but gets Xmas and Birthday gifts within 6 days.
My daughter's husband was born in the same hospital as my son, by the same surgeon (they were both caesarean births) ½ an hour later. Talk about coincidences. Neil.

My birthday also fell on Mother's Day this year! (I told my husband that this was the last year that I was going to keep counting them though!haha) It was a busy day for me as well, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

My two adult children live out-of-state, so was happy to receive phone calls from them. Spent the afternoon with my parents and sister. I feel bad for those that no longer have their mothers with them and hope they were able to reflect back on good memories.

I too remember when I was younger and my birthday and Mother's Day coincided. I told my mother that it was HER day to be honored, but she insisted that if it weren't for me, she wouldn't be a mother! (Kinda reminded me of the chicken and the egg story!;))

Thanks Doc. Yes Vicki, we can use the appropriate thought at the time clash. It's been great for reminding me of Mother's Day over the years, but I leave it to the family to remember Father's Day.;) Neil.

Thanks MrBill, I suppose we should refer to them as anniversaries as we only have 1 birthday - sorry about that. Neil.
