I moved my wife's Win7 PC from the front to a back room. Where it was, it had no problem connecting to my network and the Internet. Now - either wired or wireless it will not connect - getting message 'no network connections available.' The PC did connect wirelessly just fine before moving it. I have used my laptop in the same area and I have no problem connecting wirelessly. If i turn off the wi-fi and use the network cable available, I get the same message - that no network connection is available. This really seems like BS to the max, but I'd appreciate any input as to what the problem might be. TIA!

Have you tried shutting everything off? Wait a minute and then turn the Router back on. Wait a couple of minutes for it to settle down and connect itself to the ISP then turn on the PC's one at a time.

Hi Purple Haze, I assume you have a Wireless Router set up. When you go to the rear of your house, does the PC in question show a Network Connection icon in the Lower right tray near the clock?
    If so, is it active?
Have you tried a Repair in your Network Connection in Control Panel?
Is the Wired Connection Enabled? Neil.

    1. Just because a laptop can connect does not mean the desktop can connect. The wife comp's wifi may be out of range, a poorer quality adapter.

    2. Test the wired connection using your laptop. The cable may be bad.

Did a router reset, but not with everything turned off. Will give that a try.

The PC in question does show a network connection icon, with a red slash through it. Clicking it gives the message 'No connections available.' I have tried Network Connection repair numerous times to - so far - no avail. I don't remember if the wired connection is enabled or not - will check that also.

I did try the wired connection with my own laptop. Got the same message of no connections available. I doubt - but would bet my life on it - the cable is bad. It's been in place in current configuration for several years and has worked previously. I guess I could whack off the end and put on a new connector.

Hi Purple Haze, Tony's suggestion would have been my next one too. Neil.

Make sure each network connection is enabled
