Microsoft is pushing out an Out of Band (OOB) security update MS14-021 to address the recently disclosed Internet Explorer 0day exploit incidents involving a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer.

The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using an affected version of Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the current user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

For those of you on Windows XP, Microsoft has decided to support this bulletin on Windows XP, although Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft.

This security update addresses the vulnerability first described in Microsoft Security Advisory 2963983

If anyone applied the suggested temporary fix to unregister vgx.dll be sure to reverse that fix before installing the update.
