I recently installed Zinstall which was recommended that it would allow you to create a partition for your old XP so you could also install Win7 and XP would be a separate virtual computer.

Although it mostly worked, it had several major problems and out of frustration I decided to remove it thru the control panel.

However, now I am left with a working Win7 and No way to reach my old XP partition to bring forward some of the folders other than thru a recent backup.

Is there any solution to this access dilemma?

It seems something was done to the partition, so as Win7 cannot access. I would download Ubuntu. It downloads as an ISO file so you'll need to burn it to a DVD (need ImgBurn?).
Boot up the DVD, select "Try Ubuntu" when you get the choice.
Ubuntu is a Linux based OS and will run off of the DVD without installing. It should see all partitions.

    markp62,

Thanks for the reply. I have determined that I just have just the one partition and all my files are now under Win7. At least I can transfer them to a second XP comp so I guess I'll stick with this for now.
