I have a dual boot W2k/Win98 PC. For 6 months the system works fine. Lately, when booting under W2K the system does not find the Novell tree. If I boot up under Win98 the OS does allow me to logon to Novell. Then, when I reboot under W2k the OS sees the network tree and all is well. Any ideas of what is causing this intermittent problem?

    Thank you.

Are you using the Client Sevice for NetWare or the Novell Client on the Windows 2000 OS? If you're using the Novell Client, what version?

Well, that's the most recent client for Windows 2000 so I'd say you're good there. We had a few W2K workstations (not dual boot) that wouldn't be able to find the tree at time on startup. What ended up being the problem in our case were the NICs. Some were not set to AutoDetect for the network type/speed so we manually set them to our setting. Others were fixed by installing an updated Windows 2000 driver for the NIC. The ones that were giving us probems were using the Windows provided driver so you might want to install the latest drivers from the vendor's website.

    Installed the latest vendor's driver

    Hi Scott,

I used your suggestion of installing of replacing the Windows provided driver with the vendor's driver for the NIC. I did that right after receiving your email. So far there have been no problems with recognizing the network. It looks like your solution worked! Thanks for your help.
