Have used FF for years, then installed Google Chrome and used it some, and everything went well. Recently the Chrome started loosing settings that I put into the settings place. Have used CC Cleaner all along and it didn't bother the settings. Have used Spybot Search & Destroy some, and it didn't seem to change anything, but sometime the settings were lost.
Chrome is supposed to be more hack proof than FF, but I don't know for sure. There seems to be more work for Spybot since using Chrome, and CC Cleaner has much larger numbers to erase than when using FF only.
Thank you for your time and knowledge.
    Rob

What version of FF and TB do you use. Downloaded TB recently and all I could get was text. Been using Outlook Express for a long time and it opens and plays everything in the email. Audio and video. Are there some settings I have not found in TB ?
Used FF for years also, but seems as the newer versions had problems, and they kept taking away options that I like.
    Thank you again,
    Rob

Hi Rob, TB version 24.4.0 and FF version 28. I've been using them for 10 years and find them easy to use and don't have problems with Downloads or Copy & Paste. Neil.

Firefox has been good for me, too, although it's been years since I used Thunderbird.

Chrome looks like a lean-mean browser, but it is a little too lean for me. I find it counterproductive to have to search for useful buttons that should have been affixed near the address bar to begin with. Internet Explorer is another example of this, but it's laid out a bit better than Chrome's interface.

Yes James, I think Mozilla have tried to sort out all the little quirks that users were experiencing and made it more user friendly in the process.
Their input from around the Globe makes the difference. Neil.

Rob, since everyone else is giving Firefox a thumbs up, I'll do so as well. Love the browser. Been using it off and on, mostly on, for several years now.

If you'd consider going back to Firefox, you might find some extensions/addons that can bring back the lost functionality. I have noticed time after time that some little feature that a new version removed, was reproduced in an addon. I do have to say at the moment that I typically find that what I can't reproduce by an extension isn't really a big deal, and I end up liking the new user interface after all.

I have used Chrome a fair amount, and while Chrome is as fast as Firefox (of course, your mileage may vary), it has a LOT less customizability than Firefox does, so I generally have stuck with Firefox.

I like the name you use. The longest of all the Psalms, but well worth it. Always liked 103 as one of my favorites.

Will probably go to FF again. Trying to find the complete program rather than just the stub they put on the web. Always like to have the complete program saved to a file. The net may not be up where I am at that time. Any ideas ?
    Thanks again,
    Rob

Yes, Ff has a habit of making miniscule changes that take away little bits of functionality that you liked, and never thought needed "improving." I don't know if you want to start a new thread in the Firefox forum, but I'm sure folks here ( myself included) would be more than happy to help you get addons or options tweaks to get it how you want it.

One of the things I love about FF is the ability to customize....

I have yet to figure out why Mozilla does that. If they are are going to make changes to user-friendly functions, the developers need to offer a way for the end-user to accept or reject changes without having to install third-party addons to do the job.

Makes one wonder what the average age of these developers are. They're not thinking like a seasoned user would think.
