Is there a utility that is good for stopping frozen programs that are not responding to the right-click Close Window selection from the system tray? When I was using Win98 and XP I had a nice utility that did this, but I forgot its name and can't seem to find it.

OK, and when that isn't working? I suppose most likely when Windows itself isn't functioning properly, a forced shutdown and reboot is the only option, but I'd like to have one more possibility before having to shut down the hard drive like this.

Just a question - if there is no response - the comp has frozen, no software will work!!!
A hard shut down is the only answer. Neil.

    OK I installed process explorer.

Yeah I know if Windows Task Manager isn't working, chances are nothing else will, eitehr, but I'd like one option before simply forcing Windows to shut down, that's all. If under those circumstances, I can never get Process Explorer to fire up, then I can always uninstall it.
