First let me say I have been into computers since 1995 so I am not a newbie.
I am having an issue and I just cant figure out a solution. I have a Hannspree monitor (HDMI) and something that I think is an "Envision" computer and its running Win 7. Its a computer that was provided to me for work by my employer because I work from home. The first thing that happened was, in haste, I must have typed the wrong password in not paying attention that the num lock wasnt off. I was then locked out of the computer with the msg "Account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to ". So I thought I'll just wait and it will allow me to log on in 15 mins or so, no biggie. Well it has not.I waited 2 hours and it still would not let me in. Then I thought, I will just F8 to safe mode, get in that way and then change the setting to NO PASSWORD. When I try to do this, my monitor screen goes black and I get the msg "No Signal Input Check Video Cable ". Thats ridiculous. If I restart the computer normally, the screen is fine. ONLY when I F8 do I get this msg. I cant even see the splash screen to know when to hit the F8 key so I start hitting the F8 key about 5 secs after I restart blindly hoping it will get there. Nope. I am really frustrated. Does anyone have a suggestion. I have spent hours on line Googling this and nothing has come close to this problem. If I cant get to/see the safe mode menu, I cant try to do anything.:confused:

Did you try to shut the computer off for a short while then restart it to see if the log on screen comes up so you can enter the password?

I can get to the log in page but no further. Yes, I shut the computer down for an hour.

Just a thought - open the case and make sure it's unplugged from AC outlet - Remove CMOS battery for 30seconds or more then reinstall and Boot up and see what you have. Neil.

I was finally able to get this issue resolved. The IT dept had to do a Logmein and go into the settings and unlock it. The have an administrative password and was able bypass the log on screen. I had no idea this computer was so in control by the IT dept. Oh well. Thanks for the suggestions.
