I have FF set as my default browser. IE is version 11. I have both set to ask me if I want them to be my default browser in settings.

I use FF 99.9% of the time I may want to go over to IE. Anyway with these default settings, while I am using FF as I switch to certain pages, I get a popup asking if I want to make IE my default browser.

This always happens on facebook, avs.com and yahoo groups.

Again, this is when I have FF set as my default browser.

Of course if go to IE internet settings and uncheck the ask me if I want IE to be my default browser this does not happen.

So why am I seeing this popup if FF is my default browser. It's not like I am clicking on IE. It's IE is trying to hijack FF

Since Firefox is your default browser, uncheck the boxes on both browsers asking you to always check if IE and Firefox are your default browser. That way, you'll never be bothered with the popup message again.

If you are concerned with a browser highjack, install WinPatrol and it will monitor your default browser choice and alert you if a program tries to change your preferences.

I am talking about when FF already my default browser. I can understand when I click on IE it should ask me if I want it as my default browser, because I have set as such, but when I am using FF as my default why would it ask when I am going to some different sites using FFs. I have never seen this on XP always had IE ready to go. I understand these are two different OS and wanted to know if I had a problem or not..

    You're welcome, Gary.

That is strange how those particular web sites triggered a default browser message. Maybe they wanted you to use IE for easier tracking purposes since Firefox has so many options available to thwart advertising and so forth.
