I installed TFTP client to resolve corrupt firmware on my N900 wireless router.

I looked in Add/Remove Windows Components and it was not listed. I typed tftp help in widows command prompt and it list the sub commands and syntax. I just used it again to reinstall the firmware, as it became corrupted again.

How to remove TFTP client when it is not listed in Add/Remove Windows components and Windows Firewall Exception (not there either)?

    Thank you for any advice.

Did you look in Windows Components-> IIS section? That's where the regular FTP is located.

I forgot to look at the IIS section. I kept going to network services section in add/remove Windows Components. I will check it as soon as possible and reply back with results.

    Thank you.

Edited: for misspelling (repy to reply)

I looked in the Add/Remove Windows Components, selected IIS and nothing had a check mark next to.

Are you sure you installed the tftp client? The command line tftp client is enabled by default in XP. It's just a small executable, leave it be. Whatever you installed was not necessary.

In windows vista or 7, the tftp client is enabled via add-windows-components in add-remove-programs.

You may have inadvertently installed a tftp daemon or server, which you did not need to do. The tftp server resides on the router, the tftp client is on a comp that connects to a router.

Anyway, it won't be listed under IIS, has nothing to do with IIS.

Some security software contains a tftp server, as do some malware and worms.

Thank you for all the guidance and advice. I know now the command line TFTP client is enabled by default Window XP. I was concerned after reading an article regarding, TFTP, and its security holes.

Thank you again. This thread is resolved.
