Bought a new computer with XP, which I network to my old w95 computer. I purchased and installed Norton SystemWorks 2002 on my XP which included GoBack 3.1.1. I would like to install GoBack on my w95 computer, but the CD player is broke. With my new XP computer CD player I found the GoBack folder which contained "SETUP.EXE" (7378KB). I then copied this file to a folder on my w95 via the network bridge. Other than the normal install process, are there any other install considerations I should be aware of?
    Thanks

I never had any luck doing it that way. It asks for the cd as a sop during the install. I was trying it with the original full version cd, not one like yours, but I would bet it's the same. You'll likely be shot down in the middle of the run.

Fix that CD-ROM and you'll be fine.

    Cheers. :)

    Thanks Zephyr

I was wondering about that. I buy through a local shop, closed to Monday.
Can I backout of the install clean if I get shot down?

Oh yeah, I've been there and done that. It come rather early on and when you can't produce the cd, there no harm no foul, you're just left hanging.

Being devious, like I am, I even went so far as to get a CD-ROM Emulator program to fool the install into thinking it was looking at the original disk. That actually worked very well but the trial period expired and and renewal cost more than buying another disk so that ended the effort for me. My needs were somewhat different than yours so it's possible you could use such a program as a work-around for your dilemma.

As I recall, the program was called VirtualCd so you may want to do a Search for that. It's a very neat program with a 30 day free trial and well worth the price later, if you have the need.

    :)
edit: I found the program. http://www.virtualcd-online.com/default_e.htm

    Hi Zephyr

Guess what I got for a New Years gift. GoBack installed from the EXE file with NO halts. Very early in the install a view came up for personel info. The CD Tag # field was "Grayed Out ". Apparently when packaged with SystemWorks 2002 they alllow installs without the CD in place. It installed version 3.0, went to update, but GoBack auto update does not recognize my internet connection (?) (IE6 and N7 do). Oh well, happy it installed. Thanks for your time and advice. Now if I take my XP-Pro disc... :D :D

I'm glad to hear that. :) It's a good thing it's still 2002 since you've used up all your luck for the year and you can now start all over in 2003. :D

    Happy new year!
