I use Faststone 4.6, which was made in 2011. Of course there are updated versions, but they removed a menu option that I like, so I just stick with the older version. Now just to be clear, I keep a lot of programs updated: my browser is on autoupdate, I regularly update plugins, and I have Malwarebytes running 24/7, as well as MS Security Essentials, the latter of which scans every file that I download. I don’t recall the last time I ever used Faststone to view something within a browser (if I ever did at all).

So is there a security risk with using an old version of this program? Before viewing a file in it, the file would have to have been scanned by an updated av program.

Interesting, the Info tab of the page you linked to only had FastStone 3.6 and earlier listed, although this might only have meant that at the time of the writing of that report, that was all that had been tested. Strange, though, as 4.6 was released in June 2011, and the report itself was dated to Oct 2012.

At any rate, thats ok. I looked at the current version and it will require simply hitting the Enter key instead of using the mouse to hit a select a menu and then select another option--so in reality the keyboard is quicker anyways.

    Thanks for the link.
