    I have windows 98SE. When I go to>control panel>network>TCP/IP(properties)>bindings>...I have
    Microsoft Family Logon checked.

I had been told you should have this "unchecked" I'd like a
little more info before I uncheck it. Thanks

It is for a LAN. Only needed if you are on a network. Same with clients like "Clients for Microsoft networks" etc they can be removed or unchecked. Will easily reinstall if ever needed.

Also you could remove "File and printer sharing ".

You may also remove the Netbeui protcol. DO NOT REMOVE TCP/IP.

Remember above only applies if you are on a stand alone computer and not attached to a network.

Same with clients like "Clients for Microsoft networks "

Isn't that needed in order to save passwords.

I THINK I read that somewhere a long time ago.

Also you could remove "File and printer sharing ".

    If not on a LAN.

But even on a LAN it should not be bound to TCP/IP.
