Have just upgraded IE to ver. 6.0. I now find that I am unable to play Free Cell. Window comes up, arrow moves arouond but when it comes to the 'cards' section, changes to the hour glass. What is my problem? (Win98) TIA, willieboye

    Hi Will:

This assumes you are running Windows 98.

I had some problems with IE 6 and after considerable trial and error concluded, rightly or wrongly, that the problem was not IE 6, but IE 5.5.

    This may help you.

Rename a file called "Iemigrat.dll" in your c:\Windows\system directory to something else, ie "iemigrat.old ", and then run your Windows setup again. What this will do is return your IE version to the original. Then go to the Microsoft Home page -> Product Updates and update Internet Explorer, but skip any IE 5 versions, update directly to IE 6.

    Good Luck.

HI, BC. Thank you for your reply. I will certainly try your suggestion in a few days when I find the time. (It is about time that I renamed and moved a file.) I will let you know how it works out! Willieboye

Hello Breezy Cricket. I seem(?) to be lost, as usual. Went to Start/Programs/Accessories/SystemTools/SystemInformation//IE/FileVersions and found iemigrat.dll, ver. 6.0.2436.l. But how do I change the file name and run the
Windows setup again? Restart the computer? TIA, willieboye

    Hi Will:

If you do not already have a Windows Explorer Icon somewhere on your DeskTop or Toolbar, go to:- Start -> Programs -> Windows Explorer (It should be an item by itself, ie not designated as a Folder with a little arrow thing-a-ma-jig next to it). This will bring up the Windows Explorer Panels, and from there negotiate to the Windows\System Directory. Find File Iemigrat.dll in the right panel (you may have to click "Show Files" first), highlite it with one left-click then right-click and select "Rename" from the menu. Change the Name and hit enter.

    Run your Windows setup.

    Hi (again) Will:

I missed something which you enquired about in your posting.

To run the Windows setup, simply insert your Windows CD.

If it runs automatically, click on "Browse this CD" which will give you a listing of Files and Folders. Click (Maybe double-click, I can't remember exactly) on "setup.exe ", and follow the prompts from then on.

If the CD does not run automatically, go to Start -> Run and type in the following:- (Your CD Drive letter, assuming this is "D ") d:\setup and hit enter. Again, follow the prompts from then on.

    Good Luck.

HI, BreezyCricket. Just got through a whole rigaramole of things. (Which I hope that I did correctly.) Window Setup left a few momentos. But bottom line: The game still doesn't work. Maybe later after a few more starts? Actually this telling me what to do, etc. may help another problem I have been having with IE6. When I start the computer an error shows up concerning IE, but does go away after clicked on. But some icons are missing in the task tray/startup. We will wait and see. Thank you again for your good data!!!! willieboye

HI, BreezyCricket. I forgot to close this thread. So I will do that now. And tell you that Free Cell still isn't working properly , but the IE error no longer pops up at startup, which is a good thing. Thank you for your help, willieboye.
