This is my first post in several years. I have a SmartDisk card reader/writer plugged into a USB slot, with a card inserted. When I use WMP to play an mp3 file located on drive "C ", the green light on the SmartDisk drive constantly flickers as if data was being read or written. Can anyone explain this happens? It doesn't happen when using Winamp to play this same mp3 file.

Windows Media Player (WMP) has the ability to show photos as well as play music. I wonder if WMP is scanning your SD card for images?

You pointed me in the right direction. I went to Windows Media Player and clicked on options then devices. The SD/MMC was listed. It appears some type of "sync" operation was taking place. I "unticked" that option, and the flickering has stopped. I'll flag this as resolved when I find out to do that..

    Thanks...

Thanks for reporting back. I had forgotten about the sync function, but at least you pinned the problem down.

You can mark your thread resolved by clicking on thread tools just above your first post (look on the right hand side). There, you will see a thread resolved option.
