The following is all thaqt was said:

I found the acer.bmp file in the registry where it was being referenced and I removed the name out of the key value. This stopped the image from coming up on startup.

It's in the registry, just search "Acer.bmp" and you'll know it when you see it.

I know you have already solved it by renaming the image file, but this is just another way of doing it. This removed the chance for it to search for the image and not waste any time (even though its minuscule at most)

Did you check msconfig.exe to see if it is listed there to run at start up if it is there his a way to disable it right in msconfig.exe and there is a way delete it from within the registry.

Hi Beach Boy. Lets make sure you don't have any other junk programs running on your machine.

Download the Junkware Removal Tool and save it to your desktop. Right click on the JRT program and select Run as administrator to run it. Post the JRT log in your next reply.

Download AdwCleaner and save it to your desktop. Right click on the AdwCleaner program and select Run as administrator to run it. When the program opens click on the Scan button. Then when the program has finished scanning, click on the Clean button. The program will reboot the computer. Post the AdwCleaner log in your next reply.

Download HijackThis and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens, on the Main Menu click the button that says Do a system scan and save a logfile. After the scan completes, a notepad window will open. Post the HijackThis log in your next reply.

Are these ads showing up on your computer or in a web browser when you are visiting websites? Can you post a screenshot of what the advertisement looks like?
