We have one Lenovo M92Z client here running 64 bit Windows 7 Pro that suddenly stopped opening Internet Explorer. It's in a Sophos student group that has various lock downs "“ USB’s etc. but not IE. Moving it from that group to the ordinary Workstation Group saw IE working ok again?

Looking at Updates I could see it has little history of MS updates even though they are set to push out from WSUS. It is stalling on update which on manual installs says it’s failed. Shutting down it’s an install update shut down option but it never succeeds. Error Code 80073712. Googling that and trying various offered solutions including MS Fixit doesn’t resolve the issue.

Have you run Malwarebytes or the likes? Neil.

Reluctantly let IE11 install on just this machine and that seems to have resolved the issue.
