    Hi Chris.

Basically there are 3 factors that limit the maximum partition size in Windows NTFS (or any other OS):

    • A 32-bit Operating System supports up to 2.1 TB disks so Windows XP 32-bit would support up to 2 TB drives.
    • The block size used during partition creation (64 KB limits it to 16 TB)
    • The type of system firmware. A motherboards BIOS supports up to 2 TB drives, while UEFI works with 3 TB and higher capacity drives.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. My friend has a 500GB drive so I won't have a problem.
