How do I map a network drive on a different subnet.

I have a Iomega Media Drive on subnet 192.168.1.18 attached to my gateway which is 192.168.1.1

I then have a Zyxel router 192.168.1.16 (wan configuration) connected to the gateway & the Zyxel lan configuration is 192.168.2.1.

All works well I have the internet working on both networks. I can ping the Iomega drive from 192.168.2.1 but can't map a drive from the same network.

I have tried using map a network drive by IP address No joy, and cmd line using the following Net use x: \\192.168.1.18\ No joy....

any ideas on how to map it from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.18.

    Cheers

Try mapping and check the box to "use different credentials" and then use the necessary credentials.

Yeah tried that no joy, not sure what credentials to use, as it's a media player not a machine, so I used the credentials for the local machine which has admin rights.

Does the device have a login panel via a Web browser? If so, you may have to setup users on it & then use those credentials to see its shares on the network and to map it.

You would have to define a new route in your router on 192.168.2.1 if you can't define it on your media player.

And as Tony already said, you may have to login with different credentials.
