I can't belive this, but I'm having a problem re-inserting my battery into the back of my laptop. I know the direction/side that goes up; I'm pushing back the two snaps that need to allow the battery to be inserted (before they snap/lock the battery in).

I'm hesitant to force it in and break off the pins. I've pulled batteries out and put them back in numerous times to know that it should be an easy fit.

Is there any reason why I'd be having a problem with this (apart from the insanity of the person trying to work on the laptop:eek:)?

Any sign that the battery has swelled up?

Pete thanks for teh quick response. I'm at work and when I get home I'll check.

I really didn't feel anything different about it when I had it in my hands. Certainly no uneven lines (that would occur if one part had swelled, but not everything).

I'll report back in a few hours.

Another (outside) possibility is a displacement of the male contacts vs. the female contacts.

Check carefully to see if the battery is binding against the laptop casing - if it is could well be some swelling.

If I'm understanding you correctly, it looks like the battery is stopped immeidately before the male/female contacts touch each other.

I'll go home and see if I can figure that out.

Pete, thanks for hanging in there with me. The problem was that a screw had become loose, and was sticking out just enough so that it blocked the battery just before it clicked into place.

Battery is now inserted and installed.

Man I was going crazy. I'm glad I didn't goof up any of the pins.

Glad to hear that found the culprit and all is now well :)
