To see whether the video driver installed, click Start< Right click on My Computer and click on Properties. Then on the System Properties window click on the Hardware tab and then click on Device Manager. When Device Manager opens expand the Display Adapters category. Right click on your video card adapter and click on Properties. Then click on the Driver tab. Let me know what the date and driver version both are.

The version is 6.14.10.9371 dated 10/22/2006. I think this is the new version driver.

It is working much better than previous for certain.

Yeah it looks like the new video driver has been successfully installed.

There is one last tool that I would like you to run then I think we can finish up.

Please download MiniToolBox and run it.

    Checkmark the following boxes:

    Flush DNS
    Reset FF proxy Settings
    Reset IE Proxy Settings
    Report IE Proxy Settings
    Report FF Proxy Settings
    List content of Hosts
    List IP configuration
    List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
    List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
    List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and post the result in your next reply.

    Evan-

I am not sure I am comfortable with this last tool. I do not want to reconfigure my IE settings nor have my ip address known and will this change all of those settings that I check off?
I am still getting the High CPU warning when online as well :(

MY cpu usage is at 100% and is staying there, and I just received another warning from NVidia saying that iexplore is not responding and other things may become unresponsive, do I want to cancel. I said no??

MiniToolBox does not change any settings in Internet Explorer. It simply reports the available entries that you tell it to list. The IP address entry does not list your public IP address. It only shows your local IP configuration which can be used to help diagnose connection problems.

Do you have Internet Explorer 8 and the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed?

    Evan-

IE became unresponsive so I had to shutdown and I didnt even know if my post was there. It stayed at 100% even when I was not online so I did a restart. Strange because now it is normal cpu usage. Yes I have IE 8 and adobe flash Player 11 active x shows in the add remove programs as being there.

I disabled the Nvidia desktop features too. THe odd thing is now the CPU is ranging from 0 to 35%-I wonder if something tried to load while online. Let me know what to do next, should I run the minitool now. Thankyou, Monaj

Yes, please run MiniToolBox and post the log here.

If you use another Internet browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox does the CPU usage reach 100% when connecting to webpages?

I have not used any other browser other than IE. I was afraid to load another one.I know a lot of people use Mozilla-it updates frequently and seems to work well.

In Add/Remove programs remove the Dell ResourceCD entry if it is listed. MiniToolBox still shows Norton in your list of programs. Has it been fully removed?

I would suggest that you download and install either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as an alternative browser since they are both faster and use less resources than Internet Explorer 8. This may help to solve the issue of Internet Explorer 8 using 100% of the CPU usage. Windows 7 and Windows 8 users are using IE10 and IE11 which are much quicker than IE8. Even though you are just using IE8, you should try an alternative web browser and see if you like it.

The last thing I would like you to do is download and run TCP Optimizer.

Save the program to your desktop and then run the program. When the program opens, on the General Settings tab under Network Adapter selection click the option that says Modify all Network Adapters. Then at the bottom of the window where it says Choose settings, select the Optimal setting and click on Apply Changes. Click on Ok to confirm the changes and when prompted reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.

    Evan-

I have not removed Norton as yet, but I intend to. I will definitely get the other browser setup. I did not remove the dell resource cd due to the fact that it said it was an activex file and may be used in running other processes? Should I go ahead with the deletion?

I will post the result of the the TCP as well.

You CAN NOT delete IE 8 or any version of IE. It is part of Windows.

Yes, go ahead and remove the program.

You can leave IE8 alone since its still required to access the Microsoft Update website and you may come across a site or two that only work with IE so its a good idea just to leave it installed. Just make Firefox your default browser then you should be all set.

In Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 you can actually remove IE from your system but there is little to no benefit in doing so. It takes a little more work than just not using IE if you don't like it.

Evan-I would consider it resolved, we have gone as far as we can. One question, is it ok to run the tools you had me run periodically such as Junkware, and AdwCleaner?

You won't need to run those tools periodically because they only search for junk programs and adware that have already been removed. So no you should delete those two tools from your system since you already ran them.

However if you want to clean up temporary files then run the Disk Cleanup Utility and ATF Cleaner every month or so. You should also run Auslogics Disk Defrag periodically which will help to keep the files on your hard drive defragmented.

ok Thank you I will do just that :). One last question-after running the Auslogics Disk Defrag-the results state that I have 177 junk files and 477 registry errors! What an we do to clean this up? or do we need to.
