    Have you tried another keyboard?

Are the number keys on the top of the keyboard or over to the right on the numeric keypad?

Do you shut down the pc at the end of the day and or have you tried rebooting?

This forum is awesome. People are so willing to help!
Thanks for the replies. I did not try another keyboard. Three number keys on the top (3,4.6) and their shift characters are not working. Currently I am using right side keypad and on-screen keyboard for these. I don't want to buy a new keyboard just for these three keys.
    Thanks.

Beg, borrow or steal a keyboard from a friend/neighbour for 10 minutes just to check out that those keys on your keyboard are indeed faulty.

From what you have described, it does seen that the keyboard is faulty, although, as others have said, the only real way to male sure of this is to get another keyboard and test for the problem; or try the same keyboard in a different machine...

Thanks, everyone! I tried the keyboard in a different computer at work place. the same problem occurred. Does this mean that I have to get a new keyboard? Mine is PS2. Should I get the same kind or would USB keyboard work?

Yes - if you want those keys to function on your computer.
Either will suffice - USB probably more readliy available than PS/2 nowadays.
