This is the message I keep getting ON START UP:-

"WINDOWS EXPLORER HAS STOPPED WORKING" I can not click on anything while this message is present.

Clicking on either option of "Check on line for a solution ", or "restart" just keeps repeating the process over and over and over again.

I do have another pc which i am using to post thois message and it is networked to the other pc so I can actually see it on my network andcan access some files from it. I can do a disk format and reload windows but I want to do that onlly as a last resort as I do not want to lose my emails (Windows Live Mail).

Can anyone plese help me with overcoming the problem and getting the pc to boot properly.

    Jerry

    Hi Pete,

I forgot to metion that yes, the same problem happens in safe mode as well.

The problem I face is thta the system will not allow you to ".On the Start screen, type msconfig, and then press Enter" as the mouse is not able to click anything onthe task bar including Start.

I have the pc networked and it does appear on the working pc.

Can I access the start box from the other pc and type in "2.Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility "and work onthe problem form from my networked "in good condition" pc?

You can access the Windows 7 System Recovery Options using a Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, or by using a system repair disc if you created one earlier. To use this method, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the disc or USB flash drive.
    1. Insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, or a system repair disc, and then shut down your computer.

    2. Restart your computer using the computer's power button.

    3. When prompted, press any key, and then follow the instructions that appear.

    4. On the Install Windows page, or on the System Recovery Options page, choose your language and other preferences, and then click Next.

    5. If you are using the Windows installation disc or USB flash drive, click Repair your computer.

    6. Select the Windows installation you want to repair, and then click Next.

    7. On the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it.
