Yes, it has happened before, but this time the error message is not the same.
Another one of our members decided to install a larger, second hand 250GB, hard drive that had had XP on it.
So he re-installed his XP version, going for the full format beforehand, the installation went ahead without any trouble.
Booted up ok on restart, the sign in and password phase completed, Windows XP Logo came up. Then
    'Unmountable-boot-volume'
    'Stop' oxooooooFD.
    ( ox81F94368, oxCoooo185, oxoooooooo, oxoooooooo)
I know the four sets of digits inside the brackets are a clue to the error, but I do not know what it is or how to correct it.
    Thanks,
    Spanner.

Thanks PeteC and Evan Omo, will try to get the owner and his PC to our next forum, Tuesday 24th, and show the the links on one of the Centre's PC's, then , hopefully, demonstrate the instructions in the link on his PC.
    Will let you know results.
    And thanks again.
I think I am making a rod for my own back ,I am getting more phone calls and visitors to the forum , this is voluntary and keeps me active, but the weeds still grow and the roses need dead heading.

Is there a Web site, or book, etc that has all the 'STOP oxoooooooo' error messages explained, and their remedies?

There used to be a list of Stop Errors on a web site, but my link seems to be dead, but this listed only the errors, not solutions.

Best bet is Google :) More often than not there is not one simple solution - if only!

Other members may have further info for you.

    That's the site I had bookmarked - they changed the page/URL :) which explains a 404.
