Resolved Trouble adding more RAM

    Hey guys,
    Not sure this is the right forum for this but I am trying to add more memory in my sisters Gateway MX3215 laptop. It came with 256mb installed with 64mb going to video. The website says it can recognize 1gb of pc4200. I plugged in the make and model on crucial.com and the memory they sent gives me a black screen with no post beeps. When I contacted them about it they let me RMA it but said they do not have what I need. I tried another module from Newegg made by Corsair but I get the same black screen. I don't think I can talk to Gateway as the warranty in out. The memory installed says Hynix Korea 256mb 1rx16 pc2-4200s-444-12 hymp532s64bp6-c4 ab 0604 a Not sure if that helps.

    Neither Crucial nor Kingston have a model MX32xx listed for Gateway.

    So I'd try getting any from the list provided by Whiskeyman.

    Not likely any one of us can say, since we don't have the same hardware. But those are the ones 'certified' with that particular chip-set.

    Most likely hard to find, since old....

    Hey guys,
    I was able to find some samsung memory that was listed at the link you gave me for this laptop. I found it at oempcworld.com It installed with no issue showing all 1gb. I would have been tearing my hair out for ever if not for this forum.
