Even though I have completed the set-up successfully and can receive emails, I cannot send email. The email stays in the outbox and is not sent. Even when I attempt to resend it, it stays in the outbox.

    I second that.

I am with AT&T, and if you don't get the 3rd party mail account (Outlook 2007 for me) set up exactly right things won't work.

Also, sometimes in the Advanced tab, you will need a different Outgoing mail (SMTP). Default is 25 and most all take that. Some will not. I had problems once and was told to change it by my ISP and did. It worked previously with 25 for over 5 years and then just quit. I changed it to what they said and it worked for 1 day. Put it back to 25 and has been working ever since.

Well, it was 25. These days 587 is used more & more.

If the account settings are say for Time Warner, are you at a location where the ISP is Time Warner and not another company?

I have viewed and used all the above suggestions. My setup was 587, tried 25, checked for . not , and none solved my problem. My ISP is TDS.net.

    Arie,
I wish to use Outlook 2010 with Gmail. I can use the Gmail site and the TDS site with no problems. Outlook has worked in the past, up until I replaced my C:\\ drive with a new installation of Windows 7 Pro.

The outgoing server is as directed, and as I stated, the Outlook test is fine and I received the test email. I like Outlook and have used it for years. Also, I hate it when something does not work as I want it to.

I've set up Gmail accounts within Outlook 2010 many times... Is that what you're having a problem with?

If so, you could try changing the SMTP and the Advanced port setting to match TDS.

And, I have set it up countless times and had no problem. That is why this time I am frustrated and challenged. Thank you for the suggestion. If I solve it, I shall report back.

By uninstalling and re-installing Outlook 2010, all is well. Thank you for your assistance.

Did you use the default # for the SMTP in Advanced Tab? Just curious.

I used 587 for outgoing SMPT, which I used the first time. I changed no original settings in Outlook 2010. There may have been a shell conflict from another program and the re-install over existing programs repaired that conflict.

    Mr Bill,

Glad to share my thoughts with you. The Pablo Picasso quote was found after I had thought the same thing for many years.

I have already marked it as resolved.
