First of all, peace and joy to everyone during this Season.

    Appreciate some assistance.

Trying to help a friend with a ThinkPad 360CE. The clock loses quite a bit of time every day.

Is there a CMOS battery in a TP 360 CE laptop, like there would be on a desktop, causing the problem?

The User's manual addresses a 'Standby' battery, a 'Backup' battery, in addition to the removable 'Battery Pack' (Nickel Metal Hydride).

    Thanks for the help.

Thank you very much for the links, particularly the one with the BIOS upgrade info.

The current BIOS on the laptop is version 1.15, P/N 91G0375, date: 10/14/94. The link provided shows version 1.43, P/N 91G1534, date: 02/21/96 to be the latest.

The concern about updating the BIOS is that it reads:
"Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. "

Presume this comment refers to the Backup battery, which appears to be the CMOS battery, and it does not work well. It has quite a daily time loss.

Also, do not have W95A, if it were needed for any reason.

If it were my laptop, it would be another story, but don't want to mess up what belongs to someone else.

Might have to replace the Backup (CMOS) Battery first, and then take it from there.

Yeah, you sure don't want to loose power during a bios upgrade.

    Well, good luck..
