You can download the video driver, for free, from either the mobo manufacturer's web site if the graphics are onboard or from the graphics card manufacturer if a plug in card.

You can determine graphics details using Speccy, also free.

    However, from post #18 ....
there does not seem to be a problem with the video drivers. I suspect the monitor.

Thanks Peter C,I am going to give the Medion Monitor another try,I am using owners set-up, not convinced the new monitor worked ok, it's not here to check, taken back to shop.I have downloaded 'Speccy' I am now on 7 Zip,Optimum Installer. Radio button Quick (Recommended), BUT,cannot get to bottom of page, (screen resolution) to click on 'Accept' keep trying to scroll page UP but as soon as I try to move the arrow over 'Accept' the screen goes back down, how can I lock the screen in the UP position, or reduce page size.?

Not sure why you are looking at 7Zip or Optimum Installer (never heard of that) - the Speccy setup file is an .exe which may be a self extracting executable or a straight .exe.

Did you download it from Piriform here (click on Download from Piriform.com)

Ctrl + - will reduce the font size in a web page (Ctrl ++ increases it), but I don't think that will work in your case as presumably you are on a window in Windows.

Sorry to say your post is not too clear.

And if that doesn't work, try *Smirk* pressing the <Alt> and 'c' key, or <Alt> and 'p', on your keyboard...

Oh, you! And anyway for Accept normally 'c' or 'p' is used... :D

p.s. Did you get my 'not-so-subtle' reference?

Morning Peter C. Re your " post not clear" I downloaded Speccy and had a choice of FileHippo or Piriform, I choice File Hippo and that is where the 7 Zip etc; came from. now downloaded Piriform, what a beaut! got everything anyone needs to know about the computer , even down to the size of nuts and bolts (English joke).
Will get back to you when I have analysed the results.
Can't get a handle ( American phrase ) on what the Doc and masteroaming are on about. what do I press to reduce page size ?.

You were saying that you couldn't press Accept due to the size of a window of an installer, what I (masterroming *cough cough*) and The Good Doctor were suggesting were different ways of getting around the scroll problem... (By pressing the accept button using <Alt> commands, and pressing <Tab> until arriving at the desired button...) Without need of resizing window, which I still don't think can be done with installers...

Yes, Speccy is very much a 'keeper' :)

The Doc & Masteroaming are suggesting possible key combinations to reduce page size - I'm not sure that it can be done if the screen does not show the full window..

Another suggestion - try the Up/Down & Left/Right arrows on the keyboard.

Last night I had another idea pop up ....
If you have a desktop yourself connect the monitor to this recalcitrant PC and see how the resolution issue pans out. If the resolution is OK with your monitor without the installation of additional drivers then the fault lies with the Medion monitor.

I'm seeing a lot of postings that have no place in this thread, but should be conducted via private message instead.

    You stated:

    And I responded with:

Sometimes you can jump from option to option on a screen by pressing [Tab] (forward) and [Shift][Tab] (back).

Thanks Arie Slob, I was beginning to worry about how many pages this thread would take before a result.
But I think we have a result, with the help of Peter C and Speccy I have found that the monitor resolution is 640 x 480, I connected it to this Desktop and the resolution could not be changed, (quickly connected back again ).
The owner, ( 86), now thinks he can handle the screen resolution as it is, his son ( 60) is suggesting a laptop or Ipad, as the grandchildren use them, looking forward to that in our forum. So back it goes to the owner, he may cut a hole in the shelf !.
Just to prove I take notice of suggestions offered, I tried Tabs, no luck, page up/down no luck, and various other combinations, eventually it proved i did not need to go to'Accept' because I was in Speccy 'File Hippo' and should have been in 'Piriform'
Thanks masterroming ( check spelling) and Spyware Dr, for your help and entertainment. Marking this Resolved , at last, before we run out of pages.
    Spanner.
