I am no longer able to use the Windows 7 64bit Media Player, no display shows under "All programs ". Is there a way to re-install Media Player other than to reinstal Windows 7?

Yes this was my first check, no reference is shown at all. I also visited Microsoft Web site as you refer, it says my computer is not applicable to software available downloads and none cover 64bit but only Windows 7 N and KN is available.

    Try this:
    1. Highlight and copy the following single line of code:

      Code:
      cmd /c dir /on "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Windows Media Player ">%temp%\$&notepad %temp%\$

    2. In Windows 7, click the Start orb, press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied above, then press the [Enter] key.

    3. A notepad window should pop up with a directory listing in it. Click once anywhere in that window, press [Ctrl][A] to highlight everything and then [Ctrl][C] to copy it.

    4. Start a Reply here to this thread and then press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied.

Click the Start orb, type in appwiz.cpl and press [Enter]. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link (on the left). Scroll down and click the little plus-sign to the left of Media Features. Select (tick/check) the little box to the left of Windows Media Player and then click the [OK] button.

Hi BobbyScot. Click Start< Control Panel< Uninstall a program< Turn Windows Features on or off< Expand the Media Features category and ensure Windows Media Player is checked. If it is not checked go ahead and select it and click on Ok to allow Windows 7 to reinstall Windows Media Player. Reboot the computer when prompted for the changes to take effect.

Edit: Looks like we posted at the same time Doc. ;)

Gentlemen, your recommendation though differently worded reached the same solution. On checking contents, indeed found that the Media Player box was not ticked, this showed reason for MP not installing. I send both of you my sincere thanks for solving my error, enabling me once again to play music on my computer. I have no idea as to reason for MP box being not ticked.
