What the heck is "C:\Ffastun. "? What, if anything, does it do? And. . . what can I do to make it stop?

A little background - The computer is a Gateway Destination that came with Win95 installed and has been upgraded to Win98. It isn't hooked up to the internet and it doesn't get much use at all. In fact, it may go for several days or even weeks without being touched. But. . . sometimes you can go into the room where it lives and hear the HD happily clicking away.

I decided to do a little detective work today and find out what all this unnecessary activity was all about. I opened GoBack and all I can see is "C:\Fastun." for as far back as the GoBack log goes. It has been creating, modifying, renaming and deleting files with .ffa, .ffl, .ffo and .ffx extesions, seemingly forever.

I think I saw a reference to this on the old BBS before it was trashed (What's going on with that, btw? Any headway in finding the culprit?) but I can't remember what it said.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

    take a look here.
    FindFast

I believe you can go start/run/ msconfig. Disable it in the startup tab.

Or, delete it from the Startup group.

Thanks, aleekat, for the link. Dreamboat's post led me in the right direction, I think. :)

After opening Find Fast I clicked on the Index tab and it gave me several options. I reset the time for 1000 hours and paused the indexing. We'll see what happens. I don't mind it running but not all day, every day.

If that doesn't work, I'll try Cliffh's approach and delete it. I can't remember ever using it anyway.

    Thank you both. :D
