Someone in the Internet Explorer/Outlook Express forum said not to use AdAware because it's out of date. What does he mean by that? No new version has been released yet.

Lavasoft's Ad-aware ? Apparently, it won't be updated anymore. Meaning as new methods of writtings ads are developed, it won't be able to block them.

OK I just checked their forums. They're working on a version 6 due to be released some time next month. I spose this means I'll have to uninstall this one before I put in the new one. I just hope the new version isn't some over-bloated program that'll take over my system and crash everything.

shadowhawk--You probably know that, since Ad-Aware has taken so long to offer protection against threats developed in the last three-four months, a new anti-spyware program--Spybot Search & Destroy-- has achieved a following.

Unfortunately, it is a little hard to learn how to use--at least for old folks like me.

I'm gonna stick with AdAware. I'm comfortable with it and am loath to change.

LOL, If I can run SpybotSD so can you :)

Just make sure you check for updates before using.

Here is a recent thread on SpybotSD http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11077

Alice-- "I've noticed that installing and updating Spybot SD can get a bit complicated, especially with the zip file extractions. "
    Did you say that??:D

Yes I did  but not too complicated for YOU....but, (if you like there is an .exe installation file... I did the .zip install myself:cool:

As for updates, the easiest way is the online install from within the program. Sometimes that doesn't work, though, as the thread I gave pointed out.... then you need to DL and unzip :( still, not TOO complicated, just a wee bit :D
