My Dell Inspiron Netbook does almost the same thing.

I changed the RAM from 1GB to 2GB and from that point on, it will stay up for only a few minutes, then powers off.

I thought it might be the battery but even with the battery out, it won't do any better.

It's out of warranty, but I did love using the little thing and would hate to think it's truly dead and gone. It's so much better than an iPad!

If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks, all, very much.

    Tiny Powerhouse Dies

Could I have done something to make that happen, by simply changing the RAM card? This puppy required removing the keyboard, and a couple other items, to get to the memory. I think also the tiny HD had to be moved, as well.

I have done it over and over again, to ensure that I have made all connections properly, when putting it back together. Still, it dies after a few minutes. Maybe as many as 10 minutes, but usually a lot fewer; more like 5 or so.

As I said, I do love this little thing and it certainly is more capable than my iPad -which I won, as opposed to bought; this original iPad will not support an upgrade to iOS 5, and is stuck on the original level, making many app upgrades impossible to complete.

    Thanks, Doc.

    Cheers!

To check the temps, download, install and run HWMonitor.

    Notes:
    1. Click the "1.22 setup, english" over on the right of that page to start the download.

    2. When setting up the installation, make sure you deselect (uncheck) all of the items that you probably do not want installed, such as an Ask Toolbar etc.
