Hi kieer06, Any chance you could fill in your 'System Details'. The more we know about your system the more help we can give.
    What OS etc.
    Have you tried another Monitor?
    Are the fans going? Neil.

Hi, we would need more info on the comp eg. Model # CQXXXXXX ?

How long have you had the comp?
    How old is it?
Why haven't you installed SP3 Update?
You may need to get Driver updates from HP if available.

If you look at the Left top corner of this page, you will see UserCP. Click on that and scroll down to where you can enter your system info and scroll to the bottom of the page and SAVE before you close the page. Neil.

First, I hope you unplugged the computer from the wall, then touched bare metal of the case interior BEFORE reaching in to remove or replace the battery. This is essential to prevent damage from a static discharge from your body, and from damage due to +5Vsb standby voltages running through the motherboard when the PSU is plugged in.

Assuming the battery was properly replaced, it is essential you immediately boot into the BIOS Setup Menu when you replace the CMOS battery. This is because removing the battery causes the data in the CMOS memory module (your custom BIOS settings) to dump. So you must immediately boot into the BIOS Setup Menu, reset your date and time, verify drives are properly identified and set to the correct boot order. Then you must "Save and Exit" to save those settings and [hopefully] boot normally.

    Is your problem fixed?
    What fixed it?
    Have you installed SP3?
If not, you should go to MS Updates and Download and install ASAP. Neil.

I would sincerely suggest that as your comp is 9 years old, you may be saving time and money by investing in a newer one.
The Start switch may be faulty (I've experienced that myself) and switches are not readily available. They come in new cases (Tower or Desktop).
If the PSU is failing, HP units are dedicated and usually much dearer than standard ATX PSU's.
Faulty motherboard (as Graphics are built-in) may not be worth the trouble.;)

I've just had to rebuild my comp this month (PSU and m/b fried) and 8 years old. I'm now up to date with newer hardware and can run Vista,W7/8. Cheers Neil.
