Since my recent upgrade to FireFox 21 the behaviour when closing the browser seems to have changed.

Assume that the browser has a number of tabs open.

Previously, clicking either 'File ... Exit' or the 'Close X' at the top right resulted in a warning that 'x' tabs are open and so on.

Now, whilst this same behaviour continues when using the 'Close X' at the top right, when I use the 'File ... Exit' option the browser closes instantly without any warning.

All of the appropriate options still remain 'checked' so I am at a loss to understand why this is happening.

It's clearly not a world shattering issue but the change in behaviour is disconcerting. Have other users noticed the issue?

Now that you mention it - same experience here, but never use that route - click on 'x' every time.

To me that's the way it should work:
    • Click the X on a tab to close that tab.

    • Click the X on the window to close that window, (with a tab warning if you like).

    • Click File>Exit to immediately close the entire program.

My version 13 does the same thing. As Doc mentioned it - sounds normal to me too.

Yes, I accept your corrections, having double checked a couple of older versions.

However, on this computer the 'warning' definitely appeared in v20 because I spent some time, over several weeks in fact, trying to replicate a crash when closing which I suspected was linked to the number of tabs open and the method of closing the browser. That's why the difference was so apparent to me at the time.

Perhaps there were other issues involved which linked to the different behaviour.

    Thanks for your input anyway.
