    Yo ho hooooo,

Is it true that Windows 8 (not Windows 8 Pro) is comparable to Windows 7 Basic or Windows 7 Premium? Someone even suggested Windows 8 is compared to Windows 3.1. Which is true?

Windows 8 is a "basic" version similar to Windows 7 basic version.

You can Google- Windows 8 Versions and find all sorts of information.

Hi LumberGumRubber. Yes the standard version of Windows 8 is comparable to Windows 7 Home Premium except that the standard Windows 8 version does not include Windows Media Center which is only available to Windows 8 Pro users.

There are a few other differences between the two editions. More information here, Windows 8 Editions.
